We were honoured to host Venerable Ajahn Achalo, Abbot of Anandagiri Forest Monastery at Wisdom Park on 12 May 2023. It was the maiden visit to the campus by Ajahn and his retinue. He was delighted by the simple and functional facility built that draws parallels to the forest monastery he has set up in Petchabun, Thailand. We thank Venerable Ajahns for visiting us. May they be blessed with good health and success in all their noble endeavours.

To celebrate ‘Earth Day’ today on 22 April, volunteers gathered at Wisdom Park to plant 12 trees, bringing the total count of trees planted here to over 1,800. Let us take this opportunity to reflect, resolve and take action on how we can drive positive actions for the planet. Every conscientious act to reduce consumption & waste, lower our carbon footprint and green our surroundings, count towards easing the toll on the environment. We can make it a happy ‘Earth Day’ everyday.

On 11 March 2023, EXCO members of Buddhist Gem Fellowship led by its President Bro. Tee Chee Seng paid a visit to Wisdom Park. The entourage toured the campus grounds and held a discussion with Nalanda leaders on the ways the facilities can be used by the community and how they could also support the mission of Wisdom Park. From 9 to 11 March, 40 devotees and volunteers checked in at Wisdom Park for a meditation retreat conducted by Ven. Ajahn Pavaro. Following Ajahn’s advise, let us always have gratitude in our heart for all the supporting conditions we are blessed with to walk the spiritual path, and strive towards the lasting peace of Nibbana.

On 6 March, Nalanda members and volunteers warmly welcomed Ven. Dr. S. Pemaratana, Abbot of Pittsburgh Buddhist Centre, on his first trip back to Malaysia since the pandemic. The visit started with a tour around the Wisdom Park campus and an introduction to this educational facility dedicated to train Buddhist leaders and develop Dhamma teachers. We humbly invite venerable sir to visit us again at Nalanda on his next trip to Malaysia, and wish him good health and success in his noble endeavours.

On Saturday 25 February, Nalanda welcomed leaders of Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia 法鼓山马来西亚道场, Kuan Jin Kok Temple 观音阁古寺, Tzu Chi Malaysia 马来西亚慈济, and Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia to Wisdom Park to learn more about this educational facility dedicated to training Dhamma teachers and developing Buddhist leaders. On 18 to 20 February, 45 Nalanda Dhamma School students started their school holidays meaningfully with a stay-in programme in Wisdom Park. Over the 3 days, students explored the theme of “Blessings in Life” to better understanding the true blessings as taught by the Buddha. May the teenagers continue to maintain high spirits in learning and practising the wise teachings of the Buddha. Sadhu anumodana!

On 3 to 4 February, Nalanda members were privileged to host 11 monks from the ‘Sangha Theravada Indonesia’ (STI) and 5 Indonesian friends on a visit to Nalanda. The monks hailed from various provinces across the Indonesian islands, where they have been serving the local communities under the guidance of the Sangha Governance Council of STI. May venerable sirs be blessed with good health, and success in their noble endeavours. “Salam metta dari umat Nalanda”.

On the first day of the year, Nalandians warmly welcomed Venerable Ajahn Vajiro to Wisdom Park, his first visit to the educational campus. Nalanda Youth leaders and members took the opportunity to seek his advice as part of their annual Fuel-up Camp to prepare themselves for the year ahead.
